The world first cloned dog, Snuppy is going to be a father.
In Aug 2005, Dr. Byeung Chun Lee at Seoul National University succeeded in cloning of Afghan Hound first in the world and named him Snuppy. A year later, he wanted to make him a girlfriend. In 2006, female dogs were cloned form another a female Afghan Hound donor. Now they are going to have babies via in vitro fertilization. I wish he adapted natural inbreeding for the puppies. Anyway, in a few month, puppies will see the world and their parents. Every work hat Dr. Lee is doing is the world first because dog cloning has not been challenged by any other groups so far.
Though, controversy heats up over dog cloning, I like to see the bright side. Months ago, Dr. Ra CEO of RNL Bio that has seamlessly collaborated with Dr. Lee, mentioned about the plan to clone a cancer sniffing dog. The reason why they had to clone her was she has no ovary and natural reproduction was impossible. The only way to preserve her special genetic traits is to clone her. Dr. Lee also worked in cloning Wolves that are in danger of extinction. More over we are waiting for a clone of a dead pit bull that saved an American woman's life and had left his mommy lots of happy memories. The pet owner said she thought of suicide when her beloved dog passed away. Now she has great hope to meet him again.
